In a new publication in Toxics, UW O’Brien Center Associate Director Dr. Chad Vezina and Vezina Lab T32 Fellow Nelson Peterson describe the physiology of the male lower urinary tract and cellular composition of lower urinary tract tissues. The review discusses known and suspected mechanisms of male LUTD and examples of environmental chemicals acting through these mechanisms to contribute to LUTD. In addition, it describes mouse models of LUTD and endpoints to diagnose, characterize, and quantify LUTD in men and mice.
